Valais Blacknose:

The "World's Cutest Sheep"

It is easy to see why the Valais Blacknose has taken the livestock world by storm. Originating from the rugged mountains of Switzerland, these dual-purpose heritage sheep are famous for their unforgettable appearance, exceptionally gentle temperaments (dog-like personalities), and premium wool quality. Whether you are looking to elevate your breeding program, produce high-quality fiber, or add the ultimate "pasture puppy" to your homestead, the Valais Blacknose is a spectacular investment.

Why Choose Valais Blacknose?

  1. Unmistakable Look: They feature striking jet-black faces, ears, knees, and hocks that contrast beautifully with a thick, fluffy coat of white fleece. Both rams and ewes sport elegant, spiral horns.

  2. The Ultimate Family Disposition: Valais Blacknose sheep are remarkably docile, curious, and affectionate. They lack the flighty nature of typical sheep and form deep bonds with their handlers, making them fantastic for small farms and children.

  3. Hardy & Adaptable: Having evolved in the Swiss Alps, they are remarkably resilient animals that adapt easily to varied climates, rugged terrain, and diverse forage conditions.

  4. Premium Fiber Production: They produce a heavy, coarse fleece with an impressive staple length (often 4–6 inches of growth every six months), highly sought after by hand-spinners, felters, and crafters.

Sheep are stoic prey animals that hide illnesses until the last second to avoid showing weakness, making sudden deaths appear random. One of the most common of this illness is MV. We are proud to say our flock is Maedi-visna (MV) and Johne’s disease negative, and we currently operate a "closed flock" (where no new animals are introduced from outside sources), additionally our pureblood Valais ewe holds the AA/RR scrapie resistance genotype ensuring that our lambs can live a healthy long life.

Lambs are priced by quality of fleece, markings and friendliness/personality.

Contact to enquiry for F1 Ewes: proven (all had twins) and exposed (to purebred Ram), good mothers, easy lambers, and very friendly. $3,000 - $6,000
